چکیده

Morus alba L. is a multipurpose and fast-growing tree species. However, its growth productivity are susceptible to water stress. Therefore, study was conducted check the effectiveness of foliar application salicylic acid (SA) in improving stress tolerance M. alba. A pot experiment morphological, physiological biochemical attributes young saplings were assessed under control (CK, 90% field capacity (FC)), moderate (MS, 60% FC) high soil deficits (HS, 30% FC), along with MS HS + SA 0.5 1.0 mM (MS 0.5; 1.0, HS+1.0, respectively). Results demonstrated that highest decrease plant growth, leaf, stems roots’ dry biomass, chlorophyll a, b, carotenoid contents leaf gas exchange parameters observed HS, whereas lowest evidenced for SA. Electrolyte leakage, malondialdehyde contents, hydrogen peroxide superoxide radicals significantly increased while increase The proline content, total soluble sugar, phenolic protein dismutase, peroxidase, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase also found Based on results, it can be concluded help improve deficit saplings, especially deficit.

Effects of Foliar Application of Salicylic Acid on Growth and Physiological Attributes of Cowpea under Water Stress Conditions

The possible alleviating effects of salicylic acid on protection of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) cv. Parastu under water stress conditions were investigated in the University of Zanjan Agriculture Research Station during 2008. Water stress was imposed by withholding irrigation at 50% flowering (flowering water stress, FWS) and when 50% of the pods grew 2-3cm (pod-formation water stress, PFWS). Sa...

Effect of exogenous application of ascorbic acid on physiological and biochemical characteristics of wheat under water stress

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is widely cultivated in the Mediterranean zone where plantsgenerally suffer from water stress during heading and reproductive stages. This research wascarried out at the experimental farm of the faculty of agriculture, Kafrelsheikh University usingtwo water treatments (water stress and well-watered), four N levels (0, 80, 160 and 240 kg ha-1)and two ascorbic acid le...

Physio-biochemical attributes in two cultivars of mulberry (Morus alba L.) under NaHCO3 stress

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the physiological and biochemical changes that occur in mulberry (cv. local and Sujanpuri) plants under alkaline conditions in order to understand the response of these cultivars to alkalinity. Mulberry plants were subjected to different treatments using NaHCO3 and after 20, 40 and 60 days, different physiological and biochemical parameters were studied...
